Don’t forget that for an awful long time, the populations most targeted by lynchings in this country were:
- African-American (70%),
- Chinese,
- Mexican,
- Jews, and
- … Italians.
Yes, you read that right.
Try talking about this, though. Try pointing it out and see who starts screaming. It’s almost never a black person, who is often prepared to listen even if skeptical, but is instead some lily-white person who is enraged that you are trying to wrestle the tiara off of them and possibly unite with the other person at the table.
*sigh*
I don’t think it’s possible for lily-whites in this country to act in anything other than a right-wing manner. They can’t do it. It’s like a sort of Khazoom-Brookes postulate for racism. No matter what they do, it only ever slides in one direction. The best thing they can do is just vote and shut up.
