Of course, I’ll be back to scrounging for it tomorrow. But I think I’ll need a shallower chin rest if I’m going to use it.
It’s six of one, half a dozen of the other without it, though. I love the way it makes my collarbone vibrate when I don’t use it, but if it’s making my collarbone vibrate, then it’s taking power away from the viola body. *sigh*
I have no idea why people act like shoulder rests prevent the instrument from vibrating normally. Holding the instrument by the edges dampens it more than clamping the thing between two big, bone-filled pieces of meat? Come on.
